The JustHost.com offered its service beginning with "Congratulations, you have been chosen by our CEO for platinum status." Fury toward its way of marketing arose, then. (You Have Been Chosen, Earthling) It was a beginning to make me come to an end to close hosting account. Here is story how and why I cancelled. They abused confidence and faith from customers. (You may take advantage of half priced hosting service that they may offer when you initiate cancellation process. Read up to the end of this post if you want to know how you can get that offer!)
Just before I signed in this hosting service, everything was shown completely giving best knowledge about services listed in web pages. However, it did not provide what kind of additional services are available with detailed pricing information. As shown below, there are additional services of Daily Backup, Priority Support, Private SSL, and Dedicated IP address. Their price range was acceptable and relatively cheap. However, their fees were not refundable! I subscribed Daily Backup by accepting their non-refundable policy because I expected quality service all through this year. I had committed critical mistake. :-( Simply speaking, there are not hidden fees but hidden services non-refundable.
I did not suspect quality service. This was my second mistake. When I requested backup archive of a specific date, service staff couldn't locate it. When I asked the person about server side backup schedule and terms of service of Daily Backup, I got no answer. This moment, I just considered hosting cancellation at the expense of non-refund. I did not plan to open my story yet because everything, I think, was my faults.
Anyway, I initiated cancellation. I was shocked. The cancellation page showed me counteroffer by 50% refund with hosting continuation. I couldn't stand it! It was beyond my endurance. I just closed because I was fed up with its lousy enticement.

Thanks for posting this. I got suspicious when I closed a justhost.com tab and got a javascript trap insisting that I 'Chat' with a representative. Found your post on a google search that was NOT pre-formatted by hostingthatsucks.com (makes me wonder if they're run by justhost)
I personally have been using justhost.com for a few months now and every time I need an issue resolved they are available and quick to fix it. The issue is usually something very minor and not unexpected with shared hosting accounts. I have received this "platinum" offer as well and I don't intend to use their "platinum" service as anyone who is a true professional web developer shouldn't need the platinum services offered. Daily backups should never be left to the hosting company as it isn't their data and they don't know the history behind it.
As far as their ways of making stupid claims to try and get you to upgrade your service, everyone does that. Some just use hot chicks (or Danika Patrick who is ugly as a beat dog) and others use "congratulations you win" tactics.
Service cancelled and never activated. Jutshots.com refused to refund money for services it never provided.
I engaged in 2 transactions with justhost.com. The first was for web hosting, and the second for domain transfers. Justhost.com was just not up to the job; all the services ordered were rife with problems and I encountered surly technical support staff that could not resolve fundamental technical issues. Justhost.com failed to provide what was promised, the services were immediately cancelled, and a refund was requested. Justhots.com did refund my money, in full, for the web hosting services in the amount of $71.40. It refused to refund the $44.85 I paid for 3 domain transfers. It claimed that it order to receive the refund, I would need to surrender ownership of the domain names which is nothing short of extortion. I have owned these domain names for years, they were never transferred over to justhost.com and, therefore, I never received the service I purchased. The person with whom I tried to resolve this problem was too thick to understand that the transfers were never made and, therefore, no services were rendered by justhost.com. I should not be required to pay for services not rendered and am owed my money paid.
First off, let me say that JustHost is Just Terrible! My experience parallels those above.
HOWEVER, having worked in the industry for one of the most reputable registrars, I understand why they keep the domain or the registration fee. First of all, domains can be registered for anywhere between $10-$35/yr (maybe more or less) depending on which registrar you choose.
ICANN will only register a domain for year terms (or multiples thereof). If hosting companies that offered a "free" domain name allowed you to keep the domain after cancelling hosting, they would LOSE money on the deal. Not only that, imagine the scammers that would call repeatedly, registering domain names and cancelling hosting to get the domain name for free (not everyone is honest).
Luckily, I was aware of this practice and read up on it in the terms of service. I chose a domain name that I cared little about. To my surprise - and the first time I've ever seen such an offer - they agreed to refund my domain registration fee so long as surrender the domain name. Is this fair? YES! Now they can attempt to resell the domain name instead of losing money on it. Fine by me - I didn't care about it anyway.
Again, my experience with JustHost was terrible. Between 7 emails, 2 live chats and a phone call (don't EVER call!!!) I was unable to get a straight answer to a simple DNS question. I did, however, get my full refund. It was quick and painless.
My guess is that if you are able to use a cookie cutter webhost and expect to never need any technical support, MAYBE they would be okay.
